KAPEDO ON THE VERGE OF SEIZURE BY POLITICAL JINGOIST.

“There comes a time when the cup of endurance runs over, and men are no longer willing to be plunged into the abyss of despair. "
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: Only LOVE can do that." ( Martin Luther King Jr)

Over the last few days, the country has been embroiled in an acrimonious and enormously inane debate/discussion on the issue of terrorism. The media was a wash with Breaking news of terror attack at Dusit Complex that left 21 people dead and several injured on January 15, 2019. I am very much ecstatic of how that anti-terrorist operation was procedurally handled and eventually termination of all the involved terrorist. I must say congratulations Kenya for such a fabulous effort.

However, we must remind ourselves the fact that before we fight the outside demons, we must first scrutinize inwards and excommunicate the demons within. My attention is drawn to Hon Kamket MP Tiaty Constituency blind and blunt claims that Kapedo is in Baringo County. This is a blasphemy and mockery to the people of Turkana and the world. Kapedo was, is and will always be in Turkana County.

Moreover, I am cognizant of the interrelatedness of all communities and States. I cannot sit idly by and not concerned about what happens in Kapedo because injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are all caught up in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single raiment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.

It is despondency, shame, mendacity, immorality and illusion of the highest degree for Hon Kamket and other Tiaty Constituency leaders to make such fallacious, blind and virtual claims about Kapedo. Get it very clear that it is wrong to use immoral means to attain moral ends. But now I must affirm that it is just as wrong or perhaps even more so, to use moral ends to preserve immoral ends. As T.S Eliot said: “ The last temptation is the greatest treason: To do the right thing for the wrong reason. "

Hon Kamket is nothing but a mockery to the leadership we have in Kenya, a disgrace to humanity. He is the cause of ruckus and brouhaha in Kapedo and other endangered places in Turkana East and South. That is very much evident from his vitriol sentiments backed up by royal hegemony that celebrate the termination and maiming of fellow Kenyans at will.

Kapedo is probably the most thoroughly, brutally and cruelly maimed Turkana trading Center by bandits. Its' ugly records and episodes of brutality is widely known across the globe. This brutality include avalanche loss of lives (massacre), loose of property (herds of cattle, goats, sheep and camels), disruption of education, day to day tension among others.

All this episodes and vicious cycles prompt and compels my mind to soliloquy, it raises concerns and poignant questions in my hippocampus: Who is are the architest of this banditry? Where do bandits get finances and arsenal to drive in their evil plans? Is it that banditry has no eternal solution? Why is the government relaxed about this matter? Any attempt to do away with this banditry? If yes what was the outcome? Could there be some people dancing behind our backs who are engineering banditry? If yes what's the State effort of pinning them down? Travelling to the inner conscience decisively will help you understand why I can't put my pen down on this, why I find it difficult hold on anymore. The State must come out clearly on this.

Stop this charades. Banditry is a conundrum that must be fought out of Kenya. I am tired of witnessing melancholic episodes of massacre of my fellow siblings and siblings in Kapedo. This must come to an instant end. To the fuelers of banditry be warned that the trumpet of God is on you like never before.

Banditry deepen its roots because some people (more powerful than ordinary citizens) are architest of its operations. Bandits sing because they have listeners. They fulfill their evil plans because they have financial fuelers and enterprises backing them up. They create tension and drive fear to the sons and daughters of Kapedo - Turkana because deep within politics they find their motivation, incitements, support and shield. The current banditry has changed its course, it has become a game of profiteers and business merchants doing so at the expense of the weak, voiceless and defenseless human beings on this earth. Who will wake up for their rescue? Who will blatantly stand up for their justice?  This fuelers of banditry must be very powerful, untouchable and politically build up members this society. They have taken lives of many deserving Kenyans who would have contributed to the tranquility of this great nation. History will one day question them in Hell.

In his legendary words, Prof Paulo Freire the author of the Pedagogy of the oppressed once said: “Those to be liberated should be the initiators of their own liberation. " and so was Martin Luther King Jr in his book Why We Can't Wait when he said: “Freedom is not voluntarily given by the oppressor, it must be demanded by the oppressed. " I am not unmindful of the facts that each one of our leaders has taken some significant steps on this issue. Viva! I must candidly say that we have received some unjust treatments in courts regarding many unsolved cases of Land and Boundaries. These are hard, brutal and ailing facts of this matter. We all know through painful experiences that justice too long delayed is justice denied. But I am still not satisfied that the steps they took could be enough to bring justice. I have never seen any of them viral on social media just as Hon Kamket is doing. I am even suspicious that some of you leaders could be conspiring with our opponents out of your egocentric achievements. Turkana can't be lead by joy-riders, take that to the bank.

On the basis of the above conditions, Turkana leaders led by H.E Hon Josphat Kooli Nanok sought to negotiate with leaders from the neighbouring communities. They succeeded in bringing peace in quite some areas in the borders. But as weeks and months go by, I have realized that we are the victims of a broken promise.

Some of our neighbouring misleader(s) have drunk wine when we preached water together, they have become traitors of peace, love and unity. Jesus our Lord and saviour proverbially refers to them as a wolf in a sheep wearing. Therefore I call upon the inclusive effort of every Turkana and all those who love and cherish justice, let's join hands together in this quest for justice. To fight for our own land, that belongs to us from eternity to eternity.

I have wept over the laxity of professionals, elites, youth, the Church, leaders, locals, students, those in diaspora and everyone who loves and cherish justice. But be sure that my tears have been tears of love. There can be no deep disappointment where there's no deep Love. We may be small in numbers but Big in commitment. Let's do something for our motherland, let's do something for humanity, for generations to come and for justice flow. Let's do it together, it's our collective responsibility. # Yes we can. There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because the conscience tells him it is right.

Stand out today and be counted. We should not be the arch defenders of the status quo. We must change the narrative, we must leave an indelible mark to our motherland. Let's walk together, fight together and win together at all times. Let Turkana community be proud because it has you as an architest, designer, warrior and initiator of its optimistic progress. Nothing is for us without us. Not all that counts can be counted and not all that can be counted counts. We must wake up to the true realization of the authentic selves. Don't ask me when because the time is NOW.

It was the great Martin Luther King Jr - that great Negro Revolution icon for freedom and racial justice with whom I reserve my ink who once said, “ If a man has not discovered something that he will die for, he is not fit to live, For any individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his/her individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity. "
